Renee Hofman, RYT
Renee is a 200 hour certified yoga instructor registered with the Yoga Alliance. She has studied and practiced a variety of Hatha Yoga styles including, Vinyasa, Hot Yoga, and Restorative/Yin yoga, and continues to blend this eclectic mix of styles into her own personal practice and teachings.
Knowing that yoga is an ancient practice that is more than just stretching and strengthening the body, her teachings integrate mindfulness, meditation, and pranayama(breath awareness) into the practice. Students are encouraged to listen to their body, adapt the postures to their unique body, play with their limits without exceeding them, and have compassionate self-observation. . Renee describes her journey as, “Throughout my life journey I was continually searching and depending on the external world to create wealth, happiness and peace….since my practice has evolved I have discovered that by searching inward true happiness is right there, inside. Nothing in my life has ever given me the internal peace, joy, happiness and grace that yoga and self awareness has.”
“It is my complete joy and pleasure to be able to teach yoga. I love seeing the positive effects yoga has on my students. I like my yoga classes to be an experience, rather than exercise. The environment is open-minded and free from judgment and ego of any kind…. we simply embrace who we are.

I started martial arts at 5 years of age. I received my first degree black belt at 10 in tang so do and tae kwon do. I competed internationally in sparring and hand to hand combat. I continued to study Kung fu and around 18 years of age started my training in Muay Thai and Brazilian jiu jitsu. After my family started growing I continued to live a healthy lifestyle. I workout five days per week incorporating weight training, boxing and cardio. I love a challenge and will take any obstacle course out there! Running has become a part of my life and I absolutely cannot live without my Pilates Reformer workout! I end each week with yoga.
I am a fitness enthusiast who turned to yoga after the repercussions of years of intense marathon training. My type A personality would never had guessed that a yoga focused lifestyle would keep me challenged and strong while opening me up to a greater experience of inner peace and joy.
The Vinyasa style hot yoga classes I teach allow the student to work toward their edge while building a more expensive and intimate connection with their body, mind and spirit.
The Yin style class is designed to rest muscles while deeply stretching the dense material of the body (ligaments, bones, joints and fascia)

People seem to think that you have to be flexible to take a yoga class, so they avoid it. The truth is that you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga. The great thing about yoga is, it meets you wherever you are at. Despite popular belief the goal of yoga is not to bend yourself into a pretzel it is to build core strength and increase flexibility. Yoga is a great addition to any workout program. The deep mindful breath work will increase lung capacity, which can improve endurance in any activity. Most of us spend a great deal of energy looking to the external world to find peace, love and abundance. Yoga teaches us to look inward for those things and more. It’s all there for you; you just have to tap into it.
I entered my 200-hour RYT yoga teacher-training program simply to deepen my personal practice, but on my nine month journey, I discovered that I love teaching.
I would describe my classes as Gentle Flow. Slow mindful movements combined with some faster pace flow to build strength and keep the mind focused. Yoga will relieve stress, strengthen your core, balance your body, calm your mind and transform your spirit. Make the decision to spend some quality time for yourself.
I have been practicing yoga and incorporating its philosophy in my life since 2004. I began taking classes to improve my physical fitness, strength and flexibility. However, I soon realized that yoga is so much more then that! I found a powerful mentally transforming effect through my daily practice.
I am blessed to have had the opportunity to work with many wonderful and inspiring teachers. In the spring of 2011, I became a 200 hour RYT through LifePower Yoga, and have been teaching ever since.
I am passionate about continuing my education and deepening my knowledge of yoga. I teach private and group Vinyassa Flow, Power (fitness) Yoga, Hatha and Slow Burn for all fitness levels and abilities. I am truly grateful to have the opportunity to teach yoga and to help guide students to grow physically, mentally and spiritually.
My love and passion for yoga has guided me to pursue my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate through LifePower Yoga as directed by Jonny Kest, and have also obtained my RYT-200 through Yoga Alliance. I have maintained a strong personal practice of Vinyasa Yoga for 1o years, and am always learning new ways to deepen my practice and share it with others.
Yoga is a beautiful way to connect the mind, body, and spirit as well as strengthen and tone the body. My style aims to inspire, motivate, and empower students to find thier edge in each and every practice. Because Yoga is a practice, there is always room for growth and challenge.
For all of my life I have been doing many different work outs, but eleven years ago I was introduced to my first yoga class, that was the answer for me! I have been practicing yoga since I was a kid! I was born for Yoga! From the many kinds of Yoga , I choose to teach Vinyasa Yoga and Hot Yoga. Vinyasa Flow and Hot Yoga suit me perfectly, and it is a very natural way to awaken your senses, enhance your focus, and help you reconnect to nature. I obtained my CYT Certification in Yoga Fit Training System Worldwide in 2010 and I am currently getting a Yoga Alliance certification through The Blue Sun Yoga.
Vinyasa Yoga is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, Vinyasa Yoga is all about moving from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become kind of like a dance. Hot yoga replicates the heat of southern India from where many styles of yoga originate. The heat increases an individual's flexibility in the poses.
There is no age or weight limitation. Let Yoga help your body and your mind to get in harmony with the external World!
Carolyn started ballet at the age of 4 and has been dancing ever since. Her 1st teaching experience was teaching dance aerobics to moms at the Park District. She was 14. That has led to a teaching career of over 30 years. She owned a dance Studio, Dancing Feet, for 20 years and still teaches there- although she no longer owns it. She was introduced to hot yoga at Melt and has been incorporating yoga into her dance classes as well as her life ever since! She's always loved to combine dance with fitness and was thrilled to create Hot Ballet Barre at Melt based on her knowledge of teaching ballet and mixing it with cardio. It truly is for anyone who wants a great workout focusing on core, legs, and arms. It concentrates on toning, strengthening, and stretching the body.
I was introduced to yoga 3 years ago, and fell in love with it after taking just one class. At first, my practice was simply physical. After exposing myself to a variety of classes, I became not only physically stronger, but also mentally strong, on and off my mat. I found that yoga is an experience that is unique to each individual.
In the spring of 2015, I became a 200-hour RYT yoga teacher through LifePower Yoga and also am registered with the Yoga Alliance. I continue to attend numerous workshops and classes to deepen my knowledge and ability to teach my students. I am looking forward to spreading my love for yoga to others!
